MALAMBO, COLOMBIA
2022 Campaign
After an almost 3 year hiatus (due to the pandemic) we joined forces with other animal welfare groups and individuals to plan and deliver 2022 the Malambo Sterilization Campaign.
Malambo is a small community south of Barranquilla, Colombia. It is an underserved area where residents sometimes struggle to make ends meet. The dog and cat overpopulation crisis in this area is serious, and while we don’t have data that tells us approximately how many stray animals reside in Malambo, we know this community needs our help in helping alleviate the pet overpopulation crisis. When we help the animals, we help the community, providing a One Health/One Welfare approach.
Our Malambo Sterilization Campaign had a goal of spaying and neutering 300 dogs and cats within a 3 day period. We worked with local veterinarians, and 10 rockstar international volunteers to ultimately spay/neuter 334 cats and dogs PLUS, we were able to visit a local shelter to make a donation and see their operations (and dogs!)
